The Public Speaking finals, organized by the English Department, took place this term. The 12s and 13s (Years 8 and 9) were the first category in the event and Zac Goldsmith, Conservative MP, was the guest judge on the panel.
Camille Richards (13N) won with an enlightening speech about “Putting an end to chatrooms” and Aidan Samama (12S), who spoke about “Why we should all go to our local state school,” was the runner-up. The 10s and 11s (Years 6 and 7) were the second category in the competition and Sadie Jones, best-selling author, was the guest judge on the panel. Uma Goldsmith (11HC) won this category with her passionate address on “Why we should save the Arctic”, Rosemary Odgers (10C) was the runner-up with her discourse about “Saving the Amazon”. The 8s and 9s (Years 4 and 5) were the third and final category to perform and Harry Enfield, actor and comedian, was the guest judge. Freddie Hart (8F) won with his informative talk about “Fossils” and Harry Smith (9S) , who argued “Why homework should be banned”, was the runner-up.
